The WiMAX Forum is the only organization bringing compliance and interoperability to the wireless broadband industry with its testing and certification program. The WiMAX Forum's key objectives for 2007 are:

• Position WiMAX as the next-generation wireless broadband Internet technology of choice anytime, anywhere.
• Ensure the WiMAX Forum is recognized as the organization driving the industry forward.
• Develop a comprehensive WiMAX Forum membership actively contributing to the growth of the ecosystem.

WiMAX is a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to wired broadband like cable and DSL. WiMAX provides fixed, nomadic, portable and, soon, mobile wireless broadband connectivity without the need for direct line-of-sight with a base station.

WINBC Mission & Objectives

British Columbia is home to the wireless industry's leading players. BC's wireless cluster encompasses all areas of the wireless technology value chain, from infrastructure and devices to enabling software and peer-to-peer solutions. Representing more than 150 member companies, the Wireless Innovation Network society of BC (WINBC), is the focal point for wireless in BC. The organization brings this diverse sector closer together by fostering collaboration among early-stage wireless companies in BC.

The association:

• creates awareness of BC's wireless sector as a geographic centre of excellence in the research, development and deployment of wireless communications solutions;
• enhances the innovation of its member companies by exposing them to technical developments and market drivers;
• encourages its members to collaborate on technical and marketing projects to leverage their collective resources and strengths.

We concentrate heavily on the use of the unlicensed spectrum to provide a single source for those wishing to profit from this use and at the same time provide a meaningful alternative to hardwired broadband access.

The PART-15.ORG Organization stimulates those using License Exempt Wireless Equipment to achieve full potential in careers as WISPs, engineers and industry leaders, expand the image of the License Exempt profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrates the value of diversity.
