Hello,

I just thought I would post a few tricks I have learned or observed while installing over 170 radios on clients' premises.

1. If you are using an N connector radio, try and keep the plastic side of the radio "Up" so as to create a roof for the weather cap and cables.

2. I usually use a 3/8 wood bit to drill a hole in the wall and then I leave the bit in the wall. I go on the other side and "screw" the cable onto the wood bit as it has threads on the point which makes it way easier to pull through walls that may have a lot of insulation.

3. Make sure you get a really good crimper, or replace them every couple of months as the teeth get worn down. I use a Paladin crimper with replaceable dies for the teeth so you don't have to replace the whole crimper, just the dies.

4. Always make sure you use quality tape for the N-connector ends to the radio and antenna, if it requires. I use plumbers white tape on the threads before I screw them on and then 3M tape on the outside to seal it tight.

5. Use a quality stapler with rounded staples to tack up the cable to the house. You want it to hold firm, but not to be too loose or to pinch the cable and cause a break.

That's all I can think of at the moment and I'm sure there are many better ones that people have to share, which I hope to hear.

Regards,
